What it means to walk in the spirit?

Galatians 5:25: ‘’if we live in the spirit, let us also walk in the spirit.’’

‘’Walk’’ refers to lifestyle.

Walking in the spirit is the central metaphor for describing what it means to live as a Christian.

All of us should desire to be full of the spirit of God, and secondly walk in the spirit, that is allow him to control our lives.

Having the spirit is not enough walking in him is the key.

What it means to walk in the spirit:

1. To walk in holiness.

Galatians 5:16…. ‘’walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.’’

We cannot achieve holiness without the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:2, 4, 9

The spirit filled believer will be compelled to live holy and will be empowered to live holy.

2. To walk in love.

Romans 5:5…… ‘’because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.’’

3. To walk in submission to the spirit.

Romans 8:5. ‘’for those who are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the spirit the things of the spirit.’’

4. To walk in faith.

Faith is the greatest requirement for one to walk in the spirit.

Heb 10:38. ‘’ but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him."

5. A life of worship and thankfulness.

Ephesians 5:18. ‘’do not be drunk with wine …..but be filled with the spirit…..sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the father for everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ’’

Conclusion

We should all yearn to walk in the spirit, lead the church into prayer yielding to the spirit of God.
