LIFE IN THE SPIRIT, ITS BLESSING AND BENEFITS- PART 1

Romans 8:14-17

What is life in the spirit?

The term in the spirit means two things:

1. To be in a relationship with the spirit.

2. To be under the influence, control or guidance of the spirit. Ephesians 5:18

• In our study we are dealing with the spirit filled, life under the control of the influence, control or guidance of the Holy Spirit.

• Every believer should desire to be filled and controlled by the spirit.

• Great blessing come to the individual who enters into wonderful spirit filled life.

• Blessings also come to the church as more and more Christians learn to walk and live their lives under the spirits control.

Here are great benefits of living a life full of the spirit.

1. Power to witness.

Acts 1:8.

This is one of the benefits of the spirit filled life.

One of the greatest needs of the church today is people who will witness with boldness.

2. Abiding presence of God.

John 14:16-18.

In writing to the church in Corinth, Paul concluded his second letter with a prayer:

The grace of the lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. [2cor 13:14].

The word fellowship means communion – intimate friendship.

3. Divine guidance.

The person who is truly living a spirit- filled life can expect the lord to speak to him and give him guidance.

Acts 9:11. The Holy Spirit spoke to the disciples giving them guidance.

4. Overflowing joy.

A Christian who learns to walk in the spirit will experience great joy in his life.

Romans 14:17.

5. Power over Satan.

1 John 4:4

The Holy Spirit gives as power to defeat the devil.

Jesus defeated the devil by the power of the spirit.

6. Life of blessing others. John 7:37-38.

Those who come into contact with a spirit filled believer will be blessed.

7. Power over temptation.

The only way to overcome temptation is to live a spirit filled life.

Look at Jesus after he was filled with the spirit. The devil tempted him and in the power of the Spirit he overcame every temptation.

8. Spiritual gifts

Spiritual gifts enable us to serve God effectively.

1 Corinthians 12:7-10.

9. Spiritual fruit.

Galatians 5:22-23.

The fruit of the Spirit is a demonstration of Jesus character in our daily lives

10.Prayer life strengthened.

Romans 8:26-28.
