Thanksgiving Sunday

Text: Chronicles 20:21-22

[And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: "Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures forever." 22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.]

Praising God defeats our enemies. He fights on our behalf.

Psalms 100:1 [Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! 2 Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. 3 Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.]

The whole earth should praise him. He made us. We are his. Sheep of his pasture. He protects is and provides for us.

He is good. His mercies endure forever. His truth endures through all generation. His mercies are new every morning. He is a forgiving God. He heals us.

Psalms 103:14

Bless the LORD, 0 my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the LORD, 0 my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving.kindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. 611 The LORD executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed.)

Psalms 111: [Praise the LORD! I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation 2 The works of the LORD are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them. 3 His work is honorable and glorious, And His righteousness endures forever. 4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; The LORD is gracious and full of compassion. 5 He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant. 611 He has declared to His people the power of His works, In giving them the heritage of the nations. 7 The works of His hands are verity and justice; All His precepts are sure. 8 They stand fast forever and ever, And are done in truth and uprightness. 9 He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome is His name. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.]
