Bishop Dr. Charles Kabiru
Text: Jude verse 3-4
Prologue: There is need for every religious organization to have checks and balances, so that no single leader decides it all. Every decree must be gauged against scripture.Jude warns of people who will corrupt the grace of God. Any practice that contradicts the gospel should be repelled.
Examples of corrupted gospel: - Money for blessing - Using salt as a charm - Blessing soil as a charm to own land
- Paying for healing
- Condemning poverty and the poor as not loved by God
- Using oil as a charm
- Gambling spiritual blessing
- Using the gospel as a way to get sexual favours
- Elevating one person to a deity status (eg, Theudus)
Examples in history:
1.Jim Jones. Started as a Christian activist. Eventually became a spiritual dictator. Eventually he led the congregation to commit suicide.
2.Toronto revival in 1994, they had extreme of laughter as a manifestation of blessings.
3.Insisting on falling down as a manifestation of blessing. Making it a doctrinal must.
4.Alice Lakwena and the Lord's Resistance Army. She told them that the bullets would turn into smoke.
5.Kijikitile Ngware of the Maui maji rebellion. 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 , test all spirits. Cling to the good, reject evil. AMEN
